I was contacted by a friend to make a mini replica of her wedding cake for her 4th wedding anniversary.
She had an all white, smudged icing look for her wedding cake. It was elegant and simple.
She also requested cream cheese icing with a berry filling and vanilla cake.
Here is the vanilla pound cake and blackberry filling all ready to be crumb coated.
I used whole fresh blackberries and homemade blackberry syrup to flavor the filling. I totally licked the bowl.
I haven't done this design much, but I feel a little addicted. It's elegant and shows off the icing without being too wild.
(this is the photo I was given and asked to replicate... pretty close!)
Just between you and me, I baked an extra bit and smeared it in this frosting. It has been my breakfast for the past few days! This cake and frosting combo is the BEST breakfast guys. Seriously.
I love how this cake turned out. She added her cake topper from the wedding and surprised her husband. So sweet! What do you think? Successfully replicated?
