For my birthday this year, I made a few desserts to savor and share. One of them being a fruit tart.
I like the crispness of the crust, creamy custard, and the tart fruits on top. It makes for a rather sophisticated birthday cake, don't you think?
It screams summer to me too, which I love. I am a twin born on the 4th of July and I grew up eating the good 'ol flag cake with blueberries and strawberries. You know the one. I loved it, no complaints here. As we got older, my mom let us choose our cakes and the "flag cakes" faded away. This is kind of a tribute to those days of my childhood. Pure summer in one bite.
It was a hit. Along with the Oreo Buttercream Cupcakes that I ate a half a dozen of. It was an indulgent year, what can I say?
